Cutting Room Floor Compatibility

Cutting

Cutting Room Floor The Cutting Room Floor mod is actually pretty exciting for both new and veteran Skyrim players. With this mod, gamers can successfully load content that was found within the game code but was never actually loaded into the full game. Some would argue that some things (e.g. The flesh spell FX) should have stayed on the cutting room floor. But the way I see it, more vanilla-like content is better, and this is a veritable gold mine of the stuff.

Or maybe it has to do with this milkshake some human spilled.

About Box

Hold down Option when invoking the about box to show a version number in its upper-right corner.

Hold down Option, Command, andShift when invoking it to reveal the Obligitory [sic] Secret Message.

The secret message is only legible in the color version. In monochrome, using the same key combination will make the upper portion of the about box black, for some reason.

Debug Menu

The text

appears in DATA 0 at 000C0B (black and white app) or 0011E5 (color app).

Name Placeholder

The dialog box that shows the registered user's name uses the placeholder name of 'Customer'.

64K ROM Compatibility

This message implies that a version compatible with 64K ROM systems could be obtained by calling Maxis at their local number. Such a version was probably never made, so it's a good thing that an 'out of memory' dialog is displayed on those machines instead.

The vast majority of non-computer gaming platforms since the Atari 2600 era have required approval by the platform owner (Nintendo, Sega, etc.) before a game can be published, usually requiring the completion of a feature checklist to ensure compatibility and reduce the amount of, well, crap. This category covers unlicensed games - usually produced by pirates - that bypass whatever copy-protection systems were put in place in order to avoid going through the costly approval channels.
